Found guilty of sexual battery after a trial was Billy Joe Boco*ck, 25, of Putnam Avenue. Hixson made the decision Wednesday morning after hearing testimony from five prosecution and five defense witnesses Tuesday. Prosecutors say sexually molested a 7-year-old boy on Aug. 5. Hixson ordered a presentence investigation into the matter.

Attorney Allan Mitchell represented Boco*ck during the trial while assistant county prosecutors Mark Fleegle a and Mark Watson presented state's evidence. Paula N. Norris, 25, of Columbus was sentenced to one year in the Ohio Reformatory for Women as a result of her forgery conviction. She is one of two persons arrested by local authorities after trying to cash a forged check on Nov. 5 at the Maysville Avenue Rink's Store.

A store cashier, having read a warning about a group of forgers operating locally in The Times Recorder, was suspicious of Norris and her companion and alerted the store manager. and Mrs. Stephen Moore of Crooksville, a son at Good Samaritan, Dec. 7. Shotgun Stolen A 12-gauge shotgun belonging to James L. Dawkins of 1006 Pershing Road was stolen late Monday or early Tuesday from Dawkins' car while it was parked at Hoppy's Tavern, according to a Zanesville Police report.

SHEKA Olive Mary Sheka, 78, of 1471 Wills Creek Valley Drive, Cambridge and formerly of Zanesville, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, the Cambridge Health Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Sheka was born May 1906, at East Liverpool, Ohio.

Mr. Hite was a retired farmer, a member of the United Church of Christ of Thornville, and a past master and 69-year member of Lodge 521 in Thornville. He was born Sept. 26, 1893, near Thornville, the son of Elijah and Caroline Wells Hite. His wife, Ola died in 1974.

DR. JAMES McCREIGHT Dr. James L. McCreight, 98, of Pasadena, a teacher of Bible and religion at Muskingum College from 1929 to 1956, died Nov. 18, in Pasadena.

Muskingum County Prosecutor Allen Wolfe and Mark Fleegle represented the state at the sentencing. Steven E. Mayle, 35, of Chesterhill, received a suspended sentence of six months in the county jail for carrying a concealed weapon. He was placed on one year's probation. Attorney James Workman represented Mayle.

He was originally arrested Sept. 1. Jay Suttles, 18, of 470 Warwick Ave. was also placed on probation Wednesday. Suttles received suspended sentences of one year and six months respectively for breaking and entering and petty theft.

His probation is to last three years, Judge Hixson ordered. Suttles and another man pleaded guilty to stealing less in gasoline from Port-0-Let of Zanesville. Suttles is to do 200 hours of public service work and begin counseling at the Mental Health Center as part of his sentence, prosecutors said. He was represented by Mike Northrup. Pleading guilty Wednesday to two counts of trafficking in marijuana was Brian L.

Whitehouse, 20, of 244 Bell St. Bell was accused of selling marijuana on Aug. 25 a and Aug. 26. He was represented by attorney Mark Stubbins.

Judge Hixson ordered a presentence investigation. Two persons charged with a series of shopliftings were arraigned Wednesday. Cheryl Robbins, 25, of Chesterhill and Paul L. Mayle, of Amesville each pleaded not guilty, Robbins to receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon and Mayle to receiving stolen property. Both suspects are free on bond.

Authorities say the two took items from a number of stores in the north end of Zanesville on Sept. 23. Phil Phillips represented Mayle at the arraignment while New Lexington attorney Clyde Collins represented Robbins. No trial date was set.
