I’m thrilled to share my new cactus crochet bag pattern with you all. This beautiful bag is made from 13 C2C squares featuring cactuses in bright colors on a neutral solid color background. It’s the perfect project if you love beautiful texture and fun designs.
Making your own bag is simple: you crochet the squares, sew them together, and add a strap. I really enjoyed designing this cute pattern and I hope you’ll love making it.The free pattern is below.

Video Tutorial
I have acorner to corner (c2c) video tutorialon my YouTube channel to help you get started if you are new to this crochet method.
Note: In the tutorial I chain 5 for a new row and chain 2 for a new square. I no longer do that. I prefer to chain 6 for a new row and chain 3 for a new square.
Materials Needed
- Crochet Hook Size: G-6 4 mm
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Yarns 24/7 Cotton in ecru, dragonfly, grass, and mint.
- Yarn needle: Use this to weave in your ends.
- Scissors: Use scissors to fasten off your yarn.
- Stitch marker(s): Use these to help keep track of your stitches.
- Purse straps: I used two 24″ purse straps with lobster clasps. I used these exactpurse strapsfor my bag.
- D hook rings (4): I used these exactD rings. The pack comes with a variety of colors and I used the bronze color to match the lobster clasps from the purse straps.
